From: Public Prosecution Unit - Crown Law
Dear Mr Babington
Your email below (of 14 December 2017) to the Ministry of Justice has been
transferred to the Crown Law Office for reply.
You asked to know the total sum that has been paid to Meredith Connell
(the office supporting the Auckland Crown Solicitor, Brian Dickey) to “to
investigate, and progress criminal prosecutions for the period from the
1st of April 2016 to the 31st of March 2017.”
I can advise that during the said period the Crown Law Office paid
Meredith Connell the total amount of $6,801,444 (GST Exclusive).
Of that amount, $129,747 was paid with respect to SFO work.
Please note the following provisos:
· Ordinarily, Crown Solicitors do not investigate criminal matters
nor are they paid to do so by the Crown Law Office;
· The above amount relates to Crown Law payments only. It does not
cover payments made to Meredith Connell by various government departments
(including the Police). We do not hold that information.
I trust this provides a full answer to your OIA request.
Kind regards
Saar Cohen-Ronen
