On 17 January 2025, the Ministry of Justice (the Ministry) transferred
part of your response relating to costs for Crown Prosecution Services to
Crown Law. Therefore, this email only relates to content that the Ministry
will be responding to which is the annual expenditure of the Public
Defence System.

 

Section 12(2) of the Act requires that the information sought must be
“specified with due particularity”, which means the Ministry must be
reasonably able to identify what information is being requested by you.

 

In its current form, it is unclear as to what information you are seeking.
Therefore, in line with section 15(1AA) of the Act, the Ministry is
seeking to clarify your request. Please can you confirm:

 

1.    Whether you are expecting one monthly figure for expenditure of the
Public Defence System for the period of 2022-2024?

 

We would appreciate it if you could respond by no later than Wednesday
22^nd January, with your clarified request.
