From: Richard Evans

Dear Auckland Transport,

Can you please give me a break down of people using Albany Park and Ride.

By average morning/evening peak.
1) Those that use Public Transport to arrive/leave Albany Bus Station I.e. a count of how many are just switching from one bus to another at Albany.
2) If they are not switching between buses, can you please use the hop card data which is registered to an address to give me an summary by suburb (aggregated to keep anonymity) of where the users are traveling from/to. So I can understand where public transport is failing people who drive then park and the park and ride.

Can I also have the same data for Silverdale Park & Ride.

Many Thanks,

Richard Evans

Dear Mr Evans

Official information request for Albany and Hibiscus Coast Park and Ride
Users

I refer to your official information request dated 29 June 2017 for a
breakdown of people using the Albany and Silverdale Park and Rides,
specifically the following information:

By average morning/evening peak.

1) Those that use Public Transport to arrive/leave Albany Bus Station I.e.
a count of how many are just switching from one bus to another at Albany.

2) If they are not switching between buses, can you please use the hop
card data which is registered to an address to give me an summary by
suburb (aggregated to keep anonymity) of where the users are traveling
from/to. So I can understand where public transport is failing people who
drive then park and the park and ride.

In order for us to provide you with information you are seeking, we
respectfully ask that your request be refined:

·         We require more clarity regarding the definition of “average
morning/afternoon peak” – can you please provide conditions within the
following parameters, e.g. “travel starts between…” or “travel ends
between…” or “travel starts and ends between…”

·         We recommend a set timeframe for the data requested as collation
would be quite considerable.  We suggest a 3 month period as that should
give a solid snapshot of useful data.

Please also note the following caveats on the data that we will be able to
provide:

·         Only approximately 73% of AT HOP cards are registered with an
address (but we can provide an exact breakdown of the registration rate
for all customers involved in this query).

·         Address data is free text, not validated and not required to be
kept up to date. Therefore there will be typos and other mistakes, and it
may not be the users address at the time they travelled, and lastly a lot
of suburbs are noted as “Auckland” with no specific details. Alternatively
we could try grouping the data by postal codes, as these tend to be
slightly more accurate than suburb (and NZ Post provide maps of their
postal code areas which the requester could use as a reference).

We will place your request on hold pending the above and look forward to
resolving your request upon receipt of your clarification.

Yours sincerely
