Dear Sir/Madam

We are writing in response to your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request dated 23 January 2017 requesting information about KiwiRail’s DFB conversion program. Your questions and KiwiRail’s answers are outlined below:

1. Is DFT 7049 included in the DFB conversion program?
Yes, DFT 7049 is in the DFB conversion program.

2. Are any of the 4 DFTs chosen for the conversion programme (7023 7199 7282 7322) complete or nearing completion?
DFB 7282 is nearing completion and is undergoing final testing.
DFB 7322 is scheduled for completion in April.
DFB 7023, DFB 7199 and DFB 7049 will be worked on progressively through to the end of FY17 (30 June 2017).

Under s28(3) of the Act, you have the right to seek an investigation and review of this response by way of complaint to the Ombudsman. Refer to www.ombudsman.parliament.nz for more information.
