Persons under 18 affected by 'revenge pornography'
Natasha Frost made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police
Response to this request is long overdue. By law New Zealand Police should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Natasha Frost
Dear New Zealand Police,
The Harmful Digital Communications Act is supposed to protect citizens who are at risk from digital communications. This includes, according to the Privacy Commissioner's website, 'revenge pornography', where people post nude images of other people in a public forum or use them in threatening ways.
1) How many people have been victims of this 'revenge pornography' in the past year?
2) Of those, how many were under 18?
3) How old was the oldest and youngest person who was affected by these crimes? Where were they located?
4) How many crimes of this nature have been reported to police in the last 12 months?
5) In the cases when these were successfully prosecuted, what sentences were given out to perpetrators?
Yours faithfully,
Natasha Frost, New Zealand permanent resident
