Dear Ministry of Justice,
I’am requesting information about the Public Defence Service in respect to personal information it holds.
1. Please provide details of the measures in place to comply with 3.4 of the Information and record management standards.
(Under section 27 of the Public Records Act 2005 Archives New Zealand issued the Information and records management standard.
3.4 Information and records must be protected from unauthorised or unlawful access, alteration, loss, deletion and/or destruction.
* Ensure information security and protection mechanisms are in place.
* Protect information and records wherever they are located, including in transit and outside the workplace.
* Document and implement all permissions to access and use systems that manage information and records.
* Ensure that assessments or audits can test that access controls are implemented and maintained)
2. Please provide details of the measures in place to comply with Information privacy principal 5
(Information privacy principle 5 Storage and security of personal information
An agency that holds personal information must ensure-
(a) that the information is protected, by such security safeguards as are reasonable in the circumstances to take, against—
(i) loss; and
(ii) access, use, modification, or disclosure that is not authorised by the agency; and
(iii) other misuse)
