I refer to your request of 17 May 2026, for official information under the
Official Information Act 1982.  On 18 May 2026, the timeframe for your
request was clarified as being from 1 January 2025.  
Information relating to oversight and monitoring of activities funded by
the University and governance concerns about Ngâ Tauira Mâori is
attached.  Please note:

* Redactions in four of these documents have been made to withhold
information under section 9(2)(a) of the Act in order to protect the
privacy of natural persons, and s 6(c) to avoid prejudice to the
maintenance of the law including the investigation of offences.  
* The two 2025 funding proposal documents (Semester 1 and Semester 2)
relate to proposed funding for student activities and services. They
have been released under this OIA request because they form part of
the University's oversight of funded activities. These proposals are
submitted to the University in advance of receiving funding that the
association is entitled to and outline anticipated budgets for
activities. As these are proposals, the final activities undertaken
and associated expenditure may differ from those originally
anticipated.

 
The remaining information requested is withheld at this time under
sections 6(c), 9(2)(a), 9(2)(ba)(ii), 9(2)(g)(i) and 9(h) to:  avoid
prejudice to the maintenance of the law including the investigation of
offences;  protect the privacy of natural persons;  to protect information
that is subject to an obligation of confidence where the making available
of it may prejudice the supply of similar information and it is in the
public interest that such information should continue to be supplied; 
maintain the effective conduct of public affairs through the free and
frank expression of opinions by or between members of the University;  and
maintain legal professional privilege.  
You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.
