Does the University have a policy, procedure, guidelines, or practices around when to contact Police in response to allegations of sexual misconduct?
CL Rainwater made this Official Information request to University of Auckland
Currently waiting for a response from University of Auckland, they must respond promptly and normally no later than (details and exceptions).
From: CL Rainwater
Dear University of Auckland,
The University’s Addressing Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination Procedures and Guidelines contain no reference to the Police, even though many of the examples of sexual harassment contained in the Guidelines would also be criminal offences – eg, harmful online communications, rape, assault, stalking, or criminal privacy violations.
Does the University have a policy, procedures, or guidelines governing when, whether, or how staff are permitted or required to notify Police of allegations of bullying or harassment that, if true, are also crimes?
If so, can you please provide a link to that policy/procedures/guidelines.
If not, how do University managers and/or HR staff determine whether to involve Police in allegations or investigations of things like sexual misconduct?
Yours faithfully,
CL Rainwater
