From: Peter Campbell
Kia Ora Fire and Emergency New Zealand,
We thank you for you previous reply on Ref 21117.
We'd like to ask for more information and clarification on a couple of points.
"3. Have the National Executive or board discussed their role in staff morale or any initiatives
to alleviate any staff morale issues within the past 1 year? if so please provide information
on this"
We are concerned that some public statements and actions by FENZ ELT may reflect a retaliatory culture originating at senior leadership level, particularly toward criticism, dissent, or individuals raising concerns. I consider it important that senior leadership demonstrate improvement in accountability, behaviour, and leadership practices, and set an appropriate example through both conduct and public messaging.
I ask: Your attachment identifies issues relating to accountability and retaliation. I therefore request information regarding the steps FENZ ELT are taking to improve their own accountability and potential retaliatory behaviour or actions. Please provide any relevant electronic communications from the past six months regarding these matters.
"4. Do FENZ use the services of a Public Relations person or company to assist with their public reputation? if so how much has been spent on this in the past 1 year? and has this been considered against their budget savings requirements?"
I ask: As a result of the engagement of a communications and marketing company, have any discussions been held regarding whether the actions of the ELT have impacted public confidence in, or the reputation of, FENZ? if so please provide copies of this from the past 6 months.
Mr P Campbell
