From: Joseph Lavington
Dear Victoria University of Wellington,
I have applied for the DATA 351 class for Trimester 2, 2026, and I am curious about the grade distribution of successful applicants from previous years. I would like this information to understand whether I am likely to be in the running or if I should consider applying for another class.
Yours faithfully,
J.L

Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 18
February 2025.
Please note that the OIA statutory holiday period falls between now and
when a response to your request is due, meaning that a decision on your
request will be due on 9 February 2026, being 20 working days after the
date your request was received.
Unfortunately, as the University is experiencing high volumes of OIA
requests at this time, while we will attempt to respond as soon as
reasonably practical it is likely that we will not be able to respond to
your request until closer to the abovementioned decision date.
I note you are seeking this information to determine whether you should
consider applying for other courses at the University, and that there may
be time pressures to do so. Accordingly, to help you receive more tailored
and timely advice about your options for admissions that you would not get
through the OIA process, we strongly suggest that you withdraw your OIA
request and instead:
o Contact the University’s Student Success Advisers for admissions
advice. You can find their contact details on the University website
here: [1]https://www.wgtn.ac.nz/study/apply-enrol...
o You may also wish to contact the Course Coordinator directly for
advice on the DATA351 course. You can find their contact details here:
[2]https://www.wgtn.ac.nz/courses/data/351/...
If you are unable to get the advice and information you need through those
alternative avenues, you are welcome to let us know and we will be happy
to process your request through the OIA.
Grateful if you can please let us know how you would like to proceed –
whether you wish to proceed with us processing your request under the OIA,
of if you wish to withdrawn and contact the University’s Student Success
Advisers in the first instance.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
