Request for Information on Double Decker Bus use in Wellington City
Tony Randle made this Official Information request to Wellington City Council
The request was successful.
From: Tony Randle
Dear Wellington City Council,
I am interested in the recommendation to use double decker high capacity buses as part of the Bus Rapid Transit project. I understand the WCC has holds and/or has received information about the impact of double decker buses on Wellington streets.
A) Can the WCC please provide a copy of any information and/or reports it has received on the impact of double decker buses on Wellington streets ?
B) Can the WCC please provide a copy of any information and/or reports it has created on the impact of double decker buses on Wellington streets ?
C) Can the WCC please provide a copy of any estimated cost information it holds on the impact of double decker buses on Wellington streets ?
D) Can the WCC please provide a copy of any meeting notes, emails or other communications it has had with the NZTA on the impact of double decker buses on Wellington streets ?
E) Can the WCC please provide a copy of any meeting notes, emails or other communications it has had with the GWRC on the impact of double decker buses on Wellington streets ?
If this information is held in electronic form, I would prefer it was provided to me in its complete and original electronic format. Also I would prefer any correspondence on this information request be via the FYI web site.
Yours faithfully,
Tony Randle

Hello Mr Randle,
Thank you for the below information request.
I have discussed your request with the Council's Chief Transport Planner, who has confirmed he is the person best placed to collate this information.
However, this work would take substantial collation and research to ensure that all relevant information was included, approximately 5 or more hours. Coupled to this is the fact that as the only person who can accurately compile the information at present, the Chief Transport Planner would not be able to set time aside for this until after the New Year.
Due to the above, at this point the Council is going to have to refuse your request for information at this time, under LGOIMA section 17(f) as it will require substantial collation and research. If you feel that you can shorted the time it would take to respond to your request by being more specific or requesting less information, please advise me of this.
If you disagree with the decision to refuse this request, you can apply in writing to the Ombudsman to have the decision investigated and reviewed under section 27 (3) of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.
Kind regards
Chris

Hello Tony,
Thank you for the revised request.
I have discussed this with the Chief Transport Planner, and although you have asked for less information, the Chief Transport Planner is still unable to provide information at this time, and will not be able to do so until the new year.
I will ensure that this is looked at in the New Year.
Kind regards
Chris

Hello Mr Randle,
I am now in a position whereby I am able to provide you with the requested information. However, there is a substantial amount of information, which will not allow me to send it by email to the fyi address - I have tried 2 combinations, both of which have been returned.
Are you okay with me sending you a dvd to your registered postal address instead? I already have the address from previous requests.
Kind regards
Chris
