Dear Nicola Prue,

I am aware SCDHB do not perform the surgery.

The information released by the Ministry of Health (original links were broken, see below for fixed links) says:

"It is a District Health Board (DHB) specialist responsibility to identify providers for patients who they refer overseas, not a Ministry responsibility."

And

"We have approved funding for 18 surgeries, five of which could no longer be provided in New Zealand due to the retirement of a member of the surgical team in Christchurch contracted by the Ministry to provide these services, but will receive this surgery as soon as the Ministry can confirm an overseas provider with referring district health board (DHB) specialists."

Again, my request is for information including but not limited to correspondence with prospective providers, assessments of providers or correspondence with other DHBs or specialists concerning the selection of a provider.

I hope this has clarified my request for you.
