Incidence rate of vandalism against council infrastructure over time

Emilia Sharp made this Official Information request to Hamilton City Council

Currently waiting for a response from Hamilton City Council, they must respond promptly and normally no later than (details and exceptions).

From: Emilia Sharp

Dear Hamilton City Council,

Is there any information held regarding the incidence rates of vandalism towards various kinds of council infrastructure? I'd like to see how this has changed over time, and with regards to previous requests made by myself for CCTV and ANPR cameras, to inform whether there is a case for improper gain or advantage under section 7(2)(j) the LGOIMA as is currently being held by another council in a similar request. I appreciate the information that was made available to myself and others which helps to inform the public about council (and contractor?) decisions around camera choice, capabilities, and placement, and I'd like to understand if there was any notable increase in vandalism after such requests were fulfilled, and the general rates thereof. I believe that understanding whether council assets such as cameras are protected by measures such as other cameras, placement out of reach, and other factors is important for voters to be able to ascertain that council funds are being used wisely, which has been a key driver in the requests I've made in the past, as well as this.

I appreciate your time and look forward to your response.

Yours faithfully,
Emilia Sharp
