Law GPA statistics, 2021-2024

Dear University of Auckland,

Could you please provide the following:

(a) The mean LawGPA of all the students that graduated in the years 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021 with an LLB or LLB(Hons) degree, whether or not they also completed another degree / conjoint from a different Faculty;

(b) The mean LawGPA of all the students that graduated in the years 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021 with an LLB or LLB(Hons) degree and received the Faculty of Law Dean's Academic Excellence Award, whether or not they also completed another degree / conjoint from a different Faculty;

(c) The mean LawGPA of all the students that graduated in the years 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021 with an LLB or LLB(Hons) degree and received both the Faculty of Law Dean's Academic Excellence Award and the Senior Scholar Award in Law, whether or not they also completed another degree / conjoint from a different Faculty;

(d) The range pertaining to the LawGPA data in (b) and (c).

(e) The lowest LawGPA of the students referred to in (b) and (c) each. This can be represented in vague terms to protect the confidentiality of the students involved.

Dear requester,

 

I refer to your request of 22 July 2025. The University’s response
follows.

 

The University does not hold the LAWGPA statistics requested. LAWGPA is
calculated at the end of Law Part 1 for entry into Law Part 2, and is not
linked to degree completion/graduation. Your request is refused under s
18(g) of the OIA. You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman
if you are dissatisfied with this response.
