CCTV Footage of accident on Panmure-Ellerslie Highway Roundabout onto State Highway 1, entering from on Great South Link, Penrose

Ms Tran made this Official Information request to Auckland Transport

Auckland Transport did not have the information requested.

From: Ms Tran

Dear Auckland Transport,

I require footage of an accident between 2 Silver Toyota (license plates FJL### and QEM###). Collision occurred in the Panmure-Ellerslie Highway Roundabout onto State Highway 1. Both cars entered from Great South Link, Penrose.

Time: Monday 30th June 2025, around 6:00pm to 6:15pm
Location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ipVHdmxk3Bobwr1E7

I need the footage showing 2 cars approaching from Great South Link Penrose. It should show FJL in first lane and QEM in second lane and QEM making an illegal move by entering left (first exit) from the second lane. In order for QEM to do that he accelerated into FJL path causing the collision. FJL was driving straight from the first lane (a legal move).

I have already filed a police report and hope they can obtain the footage from you. Kindly locate footage before it is erased. The accident occur Monday (3 days ago) and I've read that you only retain 7 days footage.

Yours faithfully,

Ms Tran

Dear Ms Tran

Request made under the Official Information Act 1982

Thank you for your emails of 3 and 7 July 2025 to Auckland Transport,
requesting CCTV footage of an incident that occurred on 30 June 2025
between 5.45pm and 6.15pm, near the Panmure-Ellerslie Highway roundabout
leading on to State Highway 1. Your requests were transferred to NZ
Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) on 7 and 8 July 2025 and have been
considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).

Unfortunately, the camera situated at this location is pointing in a
different direction, with the incident falling outside of view. Therefore,
your request has been refused under section 18(g) of the Act as the
information requested is not held by NZTA and there is no reason to
believe it is either held by, or more closely connected to the functions
of another government agency.

Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to
review my decision to refuse this request. The contact details for the
Ombudsman can be located at: [1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.

If you would like to discuss this reply with NZTA, please contact the
Ministerial Services team by email to
[2][email address].
