Information about government funding decisions and documentation for the End of Life Bridges Programme, including budget and scope

Libby Bentley made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency

Response to this request is delayed. By law, New Zealand Transport Agency should normally have responded promptly and by (details and exceptions)

From: Libby Bentley

Kia ora,

I am requesting the following information regarding the End of Life Bridges Programme, as referenced on the Ministry for the Environment’s website and in this Stuff article.
I am particularly wanting to know what government funding has been allocated or committed to this programme, either through the annual Budget process or via other funding decisions.
Specifically, I request:
1. Any documentation (including ministerial briefings, internal memos, or Cabinet material) that outlines funding decisions made for the End of Life Bridges Programme — including Budget allocations or any other decisions relating to the commitment of public funding.
2. A list of all documents held that relate to the allocation or approval of funding for this programme since January 2023, including the titles and dates of those documents.
3. Any summaries or documents outlining the programme's scope, intent, and rationale, particularly where they relate to government funding commitments or expected outcomes.
4. If available, a list of the bridges included in the programme and any criteria used for their selection.
5. I also request a copy of the formal business case, if such a document exists. However, if no business case has been prepared, I would like to receive the most relevant documents.
I understand that some information may be withheld under section 9 of the Act (e.g. advice still under consideration, commercial sensitivity, or negotiation). Where possible, I request the release of information that has already been finalised, or earlier versions and summaries that do not interfere with ongoing processes. I am also happy to receive documents with appropriate redactions or high-level summaries where full disclosure is not possible.
I am happy to receive this information electronically. Please let me know if you require any clarification.

Thanks,
Libby
