Requesting information

T.L.Young made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for T.L.Young to read a recent response and update the status.

From: T.L.Young

Dear New Zealand Police,

I wish to seek clarification, since 17/12/2024 I have been requesting a full comprehensive copy of my held file.
Why am I being told 90days continuously, given we would be knocking on that timeline since Dec2024? I have even been special enough to have the same suggestion reworded to potentially be hidden under ‘an extension’. I have had my initial requested closed at the repliers discretion and another request reopened, further trying to reset the clock?
However, I here and I am reading - under the Privacy Act 2020 - 20days, 20days, 20days….
Given compliance and transparency should be second nature in your role, one does ponder - Why are you dragging your feet behind closed doors and publicly explain things differently?
Screams damage control?

Yours faithfully,
Mrs Young.

Kia ora Mrs Young

Please be advised that as your communication asks Police to provide statements or opinions it does not constitute an information request under the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982 - however Police responds to your communication as follows.

Police acknowledges there was a significant delay in responding to your information request of 17 December 2024. Police emailed you on 25 February 2025 to apologise and explain that the request was mislaid and the response was then fast tracked and provided to you on 27 February 2025 via reference number IR-02-25-588.

You then made a further information request on 3 March 2025, which was logged via reference number IR-01-25-7823 with a due date of 31 March 2025. Police then emailed you on 10 March 2025 to advise an extension to 29 April 2025 was needed to complete the request under consultation grounds, as is permitted in the Privacy Act 2020. Police expects to provide its response to you on or before this date.

Kind regards, Toby
Senior Advisor - Police National Headquarters
