Decision to remove school lunch Cabinet Papers from online
Phoebe Brown made this Official Information request to Ministry of Education
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Phoebe Brown to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Phoebe Brown
Dear Ministry of Education,
Numerous links to the Cabinet Paper (or papers - reference is made across reporting to both March and April papers, though perhaps it is a paper dated March, with decision dated April) relating to the re-design of the school lunches programme are now broken. The Cabinet Paper now cannot be found online.
For example, it was previously available via a link on this page: https://www.labour.org.nz/release_govt_c...
And noted as proactively released in OIA responses that you have provided. For example:
https://web-assets.education.govt.nz/s3f...
Can you please provide the following information:
1. When was the Cabinet Paper/s taken off the website?
2. All correspondence, meeting and call notes, or recollections as to discussions etc about removing the Cabinet Paper/s. This is not limited to internal Ministry conversations, I am also seeking any communications with - for example - the Minister or Associate Minister's offices.
Yours faithfully,
Phoebe Brown

Ministry of Education
Kia ora Phoebe,
I apologise for the broken link. The Ministry has recently refreshed its
website and as a result some papers have moved.
I have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act).
With respect to Part 1 of your request, the paper you refer to, dated 4
April 2024, has not been removed from our website. It can be found at the
following link along with other relevant School Lunch papers.
[1]https://www.education.govt.nz/our-work/i...
I am therefore refusing your request for this paper under section 18(d) of
the Act as the information is publicly available.
With respect to part 2 of your request;
* All correspondence, meeting and call notes, or recollections as to
discussions etc about removing the Cabinet Paper/s.
I am refusing this information under section 18(e) of the Act as the
information does not exist. As noted above, the paper was not removed from
the Ministry's website.
Thank you again for your email. You have the right to ask an Ombudsman to
review this decision. You can do this by writing to
[email address] or Office of the Ombudsman, PO Box 10152,
Wellington 6143.
