(the Ministry) requesting the following information:

May I please request all agenda and full meeting minutes of this group

Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act).

The purpose of the Ministerial Advisory Group (the Group) is to provide
advice to the Minister of Education on the question of: ‘what skills and
staffing are required across schools to deliver on the purpose of
education as set out in the Education and Training Act and the National
Education and Learning Priorities’. As at the date of your request, no
meetings had been held for the Group.

All information generated by and for the Group will inform the advice to
the Minister. On that basis, your request is refused under section 18(a)
of the Act, since, by virtue of section 9(2)(f)(iv) of the Act, there is
good reason for withholding the information to maintain the constitutional
conventions for the time being which protect the confidentiality of advice
tendered by Ministers of the Crown and officials. We do not consider the
public interest considerations favouring the release of this information
are sufficient to outweigh the need to withhold it at this time.

review our decision on your request, in accordance with section 28 of the
