Tçnâ koe Emilia,

On 25 November 2024, you requested the following information, under the
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA):

1. A list of all public facing CCTV cameras owned or operated by
Christchurch City Council (CCC) and Council Controlled Organisations
(CCOs) where possible.

2. A list of all Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras owned
or operated by CCC and CCOs where possible.

For each camera identified by requests 1 and 2, please include in a
spreadsheet the GPS coordinates, a description of the location, and the
brand and type of camera (e.g. Axis PTZ 360).

3. A list of all planned public facing CCTV cameras to be installed by or
on behalf of CCC and CCOs where possible.

4. A list of all planned ANPR cameras to be installed by or on behalf of
CCC and CCOs where possible.

For each camera identified by requests 3 and 4, please include in a
spreadsheet the GPS coordinates of and/or a description of the planned
location, the brand and type of camera (e.g. Axis PTZ 360) to be
installed, and the planned installation date or timeframe if known.

Please find attached a spreadsheet with all public facing CCTV cameras.
This is split between facility CCTV cameras and cameras utilised for
traffic monitoring and as part of the Crime Prevention Camera Network as
well as for Parking Enforcement purposes owned by Christchurch City
Council.

Please note:

o Any assets operated by Christchurch City Council but owned by other
District Councils or RCA’s (such as Waimakariri, Selwyn, NZTA) are not
included in this dataset, as Council doesn’t maintain a full asset
list.
o New CCTV or ANPR installations are usually planned via the Capital
Delivery Team, however there are no new crime prevention or traffic
monitoring cameras currently planned.
o There is currently no programme to install new CCTV or ANPR cameras on
a large scale – Any new installations might be a result of maintenance
responses (faulted existing device) or as an ad-hoc decision whilst
carrying out other maintenance work as an effort to create cost
efficiencies.
o New Crime Prevention related CCTV and ANPR installations might be a
result of the decision-making process of the Crime Prevention Network
Committee.
o While new facilities such as Parakiore and One New Zealand Stadium at
Te Kaha will include CCTV cameras, there is currently no information
available on the number which will be installed during fit out of
those facilities.

You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review our
decision. Complaints can be sent by email to
[1][email address].

Publication of responses to LGOIMA requests

Please note: our LGOIMA responses may be published on the Christchurch
City Council website a month after they have been responded to, with
requesters’ personal details withheld. If you have any concerns about
this, please contact the Official Information team on
