Tçnâ koe Percy,

Thank you for your information request. Your reference number is
IR-01-24-41160. Please note that your requests 29269 & 29270 regarding
LONGSHAW Carl have been combined into one request in our system, but the
questions will be answered separately where possible.

If you have any further information as requested by my colleague that may
assist us in making an assessment of any public interest considerations
favouring disclosure that might outweigh the protection of any privacy
interest, please do not hesitate to send it through.

The Official Information Act 1982 requires that we advise you of our
decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the day we
received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that
time limit and we are therefore writing to notify you of an extension of
the time to make our decision, to 28/02/2025.

This extension is necessary because consultations necessary to make a
decision on your request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably
be made within the original time limit

You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision if you are
not satisfied with Police’s response to your request. You can find more
information at
[1]http://www.ombudsman.parliament.nz/make-....

Kind regards,

From: Percy Doyle

Dear Senior Analyst of Information Requests,

Thank you for your help and your response.
I'm quite happy for the two requests to be combined.

I'll add a note for your consideration.
The significance of the case is that this is the first and only time in New Zealand history where such charges have been laid in these circumstances. Indeed, neither the sentencing judge or the lawyers representing each party were able to find a similar case.

The historic significance and the implication of any precedence that this may set is why it is important this information be provided.

Yours sincerely,

Percy Doyle
