I refer to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request dated 23
October 2024, asking for the following information:

 

all communications relating to He Whenua Taurikura research centre (also
known as the research centre into white supremacy and violent extremism)
between you, your office and other ministers offices between 23 September
2024 and today.

 

He Whenua Taurikura research centre is a DPMC initiative and as such,
falls in the Prime Minister’s National Security and Intelligence
portfolio.

 

Pursuant to section 14(b)(ii) of the OIA, we have transferred your request
to the Rt Hon Christopher Luxon as it is believed to be more closely
connected with the functions of the National Security and Intelligence
portfolio.

The He Whenua Taurikura research centre funding is administered by the
Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The Prime Minister in
his capacity as Minister for National Security and Intelligence is
responsible for this funding and is therefore the Minister advised of
matters relating to it, including DPMC funding decisions. Minister Collins
does not hold any communications related to the He Whenua Taurikura
research centre and your request would therefore be declined pursuant to
section 18(g) of the OIA as the information is not held. Please let us
know if you would like us to continue with the transferring of your
request to the Office of the Prime Minister.
