Costs of not acting on climate change
Alex Harris made this Official Information request to Minister for Climate Change Issues
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Minister for Climate Change Issues should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Alex Harris
Dear Minister for Climate Change Issues,
In 2014 the Treasury Briefing to the Incoming Minister estimated the costs of failing to act on climate change as between $3 billion and $52 billion from 2021 to 2030. Yesterday in parliament the minister stated that he had received new modelling which estimated the cost at only $3.6 billion. I would like to request the following information under the OIA:
* a copy of the new cost estimates;
* any advice on the differences between Treasury's modelling which underlay the 2014 estimate and the new one
I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about
this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the
fyi.org.nz website.
With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am an NZ citizen and in NZ.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Harris

Dear Minister for Climate Change Issues,
A response to this OIA request was due by June 18, but no response or extension letter (or even acknowledgement) appears to have been received. Will I be getting a response any time soon, or do I need to go to the Ombudsman?
Yours faithfully,
Alex Harris
