2015 was the last year in which Auckland Council maintained a billboard register. The Council has indicated that in order to report on billboard data now they have to access property files individually. This places comprehensive billboard information beyond the reach of a LGOIMA. There was an attempt by elected representatives in 2007 to limit billboard numbers. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/billboard-... Eight years later, and just before a major expansion of the sector, the Council disestablished the register that would have enabled easy reporting of billboard numbers. It seems likely that if a register still existed, billboard consent and complaint data would be able to be easily retrieved and accurately reported.
