We can also reassure you that seeking general information about the national security clearance process is not a cause for concern. You may be interested to know that further information about national security clearances can be found online at: https://www.protectivesecurity.govt.nz/p.... We would particularly draw your attention to the information under Security Assessment Criteria and the Adjudicative Guidelines.

When needed, we ask for assurance that requesters are eligible to make a request under section 12 of the OIA before proceeding. The assurance we seek is that which is enough to make clear that you are a New Zealand citizen / permanent resident or are in New Zealand. In addition to the ways listed below, another way to provide assurance to us that you are in New Zealand would be to send something that substantiates that, for example, a photo of that day’s local newspaper.
