Dear Wellington City Council,
How did the Wellington City Council operating budget get to $817.6m?! This is outrageous - this doesn't even include the capital budget!
Are you able to provide the following
- Operating Budgets - 2008 - 2023
- Capital Budgets - 2008 - 2023
Ultimately I want to understand who is responsible for the council mismanagement of finances and when they started getting to these outrageous levels as the livability of the city deteriorates. Interest costs next year are going to be 15% plus of the rates revenue?! Is it
- The Mayor
- Councillors
- CEO
And to top it off - you are still looking to spend $100's of millions of dollars.

Ultimately I want to see when the spending got out of hand and who is responsible
Subject to what you come back with - we might need to go back a few extra years
It is actually astonishing that for every dollar council brings in you are spending four!
