Landcorp Farming Limited
Kia ora Chris,
I write in response to your OIA request received by Pāmu on 23rd August
2023 regarding Freshwater Farm Plans for Pāmu farms in Waikato and
Southland.
Please see our response to your questions in blue below.
Please provide for the Southland and Waikato Farms owned by Landcorp,
Freshwater Farm Plans for each of your farms – We do not currently hold
Certified Freshwater Farm Plans (FWFPs) for our Southland and Waikato
farms. Farm operators in areas where FWFPs are in effect have 18 months to
prepare their first plan for certification from 1 August 2023. We expect
our FWFPs will be available from early 2025 onwards.
If these have not yet been done can you please provide
- Total number of farms where these are required in Southland and Waikato
–
Waikato - 31 farms comprising 19 dairy and 12 livestock farms.
Southland – 15 farms, all livestock farms.
- Confirm how Landcorp will do this - eg Individual Farms will engage
consultants and / or Landcorp is going through a procurement process to
engage consultants to do all farms –
We have begun the process of development of FWFP’s. This is a
collaboration between in-house subject matter experts, our farming
operational teams and qualified external consultants.
- Cost estimate per farm for the plans – As we have not finalised our
requirements for the plans or resourcing to complete them, we do not have
an accurate estimate at this time.
- Cost estimate per farm to implement any regulations – Implementation
costs are unknown until the action plans within FWFPs are completed.
And on completion can you please provide these plans and confirm –
- Total Cost for each plan and the consultants used - to include time /
cost if possible of the individual Farm Manager and how much time they are
involved in doing this
- Budgeted cost to implement recommendations in the farm plan for each
site
Given the first tranche of FWFPs will not be available for 18 months we
suggest you contact us in 2025 to request this information.
Nga mihi
Kim
