Dear Marc

 

I refer to your request for information on the average residential rates
increase proposed for the Hornby/Hei Hei area.

 

Please see the below response from staff:

 

Based on the final rates for 1 Jul 2023 – 30 June 2024 as set by Council
on 27 June 2023:

o The overall rates increase to existing ratepayers is 6.41%
o On average, residential properties in Hornby, Hei Hei, Islington will
have a rates increase of 6.36% ($184/year)
o A typical residential property in Christchurch with an average
valuation of $764,364 will have a rates increase of 6.60%

 

The same information as it stood for the 1 June 2023 Council Annual Plan
Briefing was:

o The overall rates increase to existing ratepayers is 7.88%
o On average, residential properties in Hornby, Hei Hei, Islington will
have a rates increase of 7.63% ($220 per year).
o A typical residential property in Christchurch with an average
valuation of $764,364 will have a rates increase of 7.90%
