Good morning Johnathan,

Just contacting you regarding your below information request. We want to
let you know that your request is likely to require substantial collation
and research and that we are asking that you refine your request. There
are two primary reasons for this.

First, because you ask for any equipment, appliances, buildings, and
infrastructure that Fire and Emergency plans on purchasing/acquiring in
the "near future" for the Nelson-Tasman area. The “near future” could mean
several different things and depending on how far you want us to look,
this could require a level of work not manageable within the OIA
timeframe. We suggest that you ask us for a definite timeframe so that we
can narrow our search and continue with your request.

Second, because you ask for any relevant documents, reports, and
correspondence related to the new plans for the Nelson-Tasman area without
further qualification. This is mainly a problem with correspondence,
though it also applies to documents and reports. This is because many
people have talked about upcoming (and not yet completed) plans for the
Nelson-Tasman region (and produced documents relating to them) for a long
time before now, sometimes up to years before. Tracking down all such
correspondence would require a level of work not manageable within the OIA
timeframe. We suggest that if you want correspondence to be more specific
about what correspondence you would like, and about the timeframe in which
you would like it. Once again, so we can narrow our search and continue
with your request.

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this email, or any
further requests for information.

A response would be appreciated so we can move forward with your request,
and in accordance with section 15(1AA) of the Official Information Act
198, once we have received a reply your request is deemed to be received
by Fire and Emergency. When we have that reply, we will write to you as
soon as possible with our decision on your request in the 20 working days.

Kind regards,

Dear FENZ,

Thanks for your reply.

To be more specfic, near future means anything upto or planned for less than a year away.

I will refine my request to just wanting information regarding plans for new appliances or stations being built (or plans for one being refurbished) in the Nelson Tasman region.

Yours sincerely,

Johnathen William
