Safety of New Zealanders

Mohammed Khan made this Official Information request to Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade

The request was successful.

From: Mohammed Khan

Dear Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade,

After the callous slaughter of schoolboy Harry Dunn by sociopathic American spy Anne Sacoolas, it was revealed that American spies based in Britain were being given diplomatic status to protect them from the consequences of their crimes against British people, allowing the likes of Sacoolas to commit murder and simply run away, without facing responsibility for their crimes.

1) Are any American spies openly operating in New Zealand, at bases like the Waihopai and Tangimoana spy bases granted diplomatic status as Sacoolas was?
2) Have such spies been granted diplomatic status in the past?

Yours faithfully,
Mohammed Khan

Thanks Sarah, but you haven't even responded either question.

In case you've lost it, these questions focused on public safety in New Zealand, in the context of the depraved murder of an English schoolboy by the American spy Anne Sacoolas, who had been granted diplomatic immunity, and who has not faced a single consequence for her slaughter of a young man in the prime of his life. The first question was:
1) Are any American spies openly operating in New Zealand, at bases like the Waihopai and Tangimoana spy bases granted diplomatic status as Sacoolas was?
The second question was:
2) Have such spies been granted diplomatic status in the past?

Yours sincerely,
Mohammed Khan

Tçnâ koe Mohammed Khan,

We note that the information provided to you in relation to the first part
of your request included the publicly available list of accredited United
States representatives in New Zealand. For the purposes of your request,
accredited means “granted diplomatic status.”

As per the second part of your request, our response noted that in
accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the New
Zealand Government expects all accredited diplomats to respect the laws
and regulations of New Zealand and seeks waivers of diplomatic immunity
when New Zealand law has been breached.

Therefore, we are satisfied that our response of 20 March 2023 answered
your OIA request.

Nâku noa,
