NZ government support for the murder of Shireen Abu Akleh and the attack on her funeral

Mohammed Khan made this Official Information request to Nanaia Mahuta

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Nanaia Mahuta should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Mohammed Khan

Dear Nanaia Mahuta,

A statement was made on the @NanaiaMahuta Twitter account- https://twitter.com/NanaiaMahuta/status/... - which deliberately obscured the known facts in regards the murder of Shireen Abu Akleh- that it was a deliberate killing by zionists of the 'Israel' 'Defense Forces' group, and that the assault on her funeral by 'Israeli' 'Police' was unprovoked. Only supporters of the genocide of the Palestinian people believe otherwise.

Produce all documents and communications which led to the production of this statement playing down the murder of Mrs. Abu Akleh and the attack against her funeral. Including- for example- communications with your masters in the US and 'Israel'.

Cheers,
Mohammed Khan

Thanks Nanaia,

This (late) response is not responsive to my request. I am already well aware of your policy of 'balancing' the human rights of the indigenous population of the land of Palestine with the desire of your zionist friends to shoot, burn, rob, torture, and molest them.

I am very confused as to why you are referencing section 16(1)(e) of the Official Information Act in this response. I had specifically requested the communications that led to the publication of this statement denying the well-known responsibility of the zionist entity for this terrorist attack.

Your summary doesn't respond to the actual request as it does not provide any information as to who engaged in said communications in regards the drafting of the tweet, what was communicated in those communications, nor any documents referenced in those communications, simply that some communications occurred, which anyone could have guessed without making a request at all.

A summary that does actually provides that information could be considered an actual response in compliance with section 16(1)(e), and I would then need to make a second request to request an electronic form of the communications that comprised the "normal sign-out process, which includes review by senior Ministry officials and advice to my office... A small number of emails were sent during this drafting and sign-out process."

However, given that no summary of those email and/or other electronic communications has been produced, if you provided an electronic form of the communications, which is their native form and what any reasonable person would expect to be produced in response to a request like this, this would save MFAT resources from being used to write up a full summary before potentially receiving a second request.

Cheers,
Mohammed
