Sudden Medical Event prior to Crashes

Chris McCashin made this Official Information request to Transport Accident Investigation Commission

The request was successful.

From: Chris McCashin

Dear Transport Accident Investigation Commission,

Please provide process documents for TAIC investigations of an incident

Are you also able to confirm if

- TAIC assess to see if the operator suffered a sudden medical event prior to the incident such as cardiac, stroke, clot. There seems to be a lot of this going around which is baffling. Evidenced with cases below.

Just so you know. This is happening because the regulator in America failed to follow their own rules whereby pilots are not to take “experimental” medications. Medications for pilots need to be approved fully, not emergency use approval for 12 months before they can be given these. It is also why children in NZ are sadly dropping with cardiac issues.

Look forward to a response.

Yours faithfully,
Chris
