Documents regarding changing the name of Steeple Rock
Ben Moskovitz made this Official Information request to Wellington City Council
The request was successful.
From: Ben Moskovitz
Dear Wellington City Council,
Can you provide information regarding the Māori name of Steeple Rock, the offshore rock in Seatoun? The wikipedia page says that in 2009 the Reo name was changed from Te-Ure-o-Kupe | The Penis of Kupe to Te-Aroaro-o-Kupe | The Front/Presence of Kupe.
I can't find any documentation corroborating this change, are you able to confirm that this was an official action of the council? If not, do you know who would've made this change?
Yours faithfully,
Ben Moskovitz
