Tēnā koe Nic,

Thank you for your Official Information Act request on 17 August 2022 requesting "a breakdown of the number of funding applications that have been submitted in Te Reo Māori over the last financial year to Toi Aotearoa."

Creative New Zealand does not currently systematically record or report on the language of applications received. However, a search of our Grants Management system shows at least 11 applications were submitted in te reo Māori for 2021/22 grant opportunities. Different elements of other applications may have been submitted in te reo Māori, such as support material.

Applications submitted in te reo Māori are assessed by external assessors who are fluent or have a high degree of competency in te reo Māori. In the past year, applicants have also received advice from our Funding Service Adviser and Arts Practice Director - Māori in te reo.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hei konā mai.

Nāku, nā

Charlotte
