State Highway 1 route in Christchurch between airport and Islington

Patrick Dunford made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency

The request was successful.

From: Patrick Dunford

Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,

In the period 2009-2017 a number of motorway projects were completed around Christchurch. These include a diversion of part of State Highway 1 between the airport and Belfast taking it further west of residential areas of the city. However SH1 still runs through residential areas of the city further south, notably between the south end of the airport and and Islington.

Have any proposals been made at any time to divert SH1 between the airport and Islington taking it further west away from the residential neighbourhoods it currently passes through in the area.

Yours faithfully,

Patrick Dunford
