Dear Ministry of Housing and Urban Development,
Under the OIA I would like to request a breakdown of all new public houses by Community Housing Providers (CHPs) since June 2017.
Can this be broken down separately by new builds and redirects for each CHP for each financial year?

Dear F Jones,
Thank you for your OIA request dated 07 July 2022 requesting:

Te Tûâpapa Kura Kâinga regularly publishes a large amount of housing data
on its website. I believe that the data that you are requesting can be
found on the Government Housing Dashboard and quarterly regional
factsheets, both of which are available at
[1]https://www.hud.govt.nz/research-and-pub....
Therefore I’m refusing the request under 18(d), because the information is
publicly available online.
The Change in Public Homes’ tab of the dashboard gives a breakdown of CHP
delivery from June 2017 – May 2022 and is updated monthly. The quarterly
regional factsheets give a breakdown of PH places for each CHP in the
region. I hope you find this information of use.
Should you have a more specific request that is not covered by the
information we provide, please contact us again.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review of my response by
the Ombudsman, in accordance with section 28(3) of the Act. The relevant
details can be found on the Ombudsman’s website

From: F Jones
Dear Ministerial Services,
I asked that you "breakdown the figures by new builds and redirects separately for each CHP for each financial year" however I don't believe the links you have provided have that level of detail as the quarterly regional factsheets do not separate between new builds and redirects. Also I want these figures nationally not a region level.
Could you please provide me a table which provides the number of new builds and redirects (in two separate columns) by each individual CHP for each Financial Year since 17/18?
I look forward to your response.
Yours sincerely,
F Jones

Ministry of Housing and Urban Development
Dear Mr Jones,
Thank you for your email dated 13 July regarding your recent OIA request.
The Ministry does not currently collate information in a way that allows
us to easily separate new builds and re-directs for each CHP, as we do not
publicly report this information. As this is the case, we would consider
refusing your request under the grounds of 18(f) that the information
requested cannot be made available without substantial collation or
research.
If you are interested in a particular CHP, region, or a narrower timeframe
please let us know so that we can provide the information to you within
the original request timeframe.
Regards
Ministerial Services

Kia ora Mr Jones
I refer to your email dated 13 July 2022 requesting the following under
the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA):
"Could you please provide me a table which provides the number of new
builds and redirects (in two separate columns) by each individual CHP for
each Financial Year since 17/18?"
This email is to advise you that it will not be possible to meet the 20
working days required under the Official Information Act to provide you
with a decision on your request. Therefore, we are writing to notify you
of an extension of 10 working days to make our decision (to 18 August
2022).
This extension is necessary under 15A(1)(a) because the request
necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and meeting
the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with the operations
of the department.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision.
However, if you are able to refine your request (as per our email dated 14
July 2022), we may be able to provide a decision earlier.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
