Covid Infection Rate

Mark Mumby made this Official Information request to Auckland Council

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Mark Mumby to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Mark Mumby

Dear Auckland Council,

Phil Goff was quoted as saying -
“Research shows that the risk of infection between two unvaccinated people is 20-fold higher than between two vaccinated people"
and is published on your web site - https://ourauckland.aucklandcouncil.govt...

There are no references to any research that may prove this.

Can you please provide the documentation/research that proves - risk of infection between two unvaccinated people is 20-fold higher than between two vaccinated people
Can you also please provide any meeting minutes (links or video is suitable) of councilors where vaccination mandates were discussed.
Can you please supply how the members of the council voted to agree to the mandates if there was a vote taken.

Yours faithfully,

Mark Mumby

Dear Angela Hare,

Thanks for your reply but the articles are just opinions without actually providing evidence. Unfortunately misinformation is being spread and I consider these articles are part of that. I suspect these articles were selected after a google search to find which ones fitted the narrative.

If the councils decision to ban the unvaccinated was based on these articles then this is very disheartening. That decision was based on no actual facts.

The decision to exclude unvaccinated was made prior to the launch of the traffic light system. As such there would have been meetings to decide to exclude the unvaccinated. These are the meeting minutes that I am after.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Mumby

Dear Angela Hare,

Has the web site been updated as per your statement -

We will soon be publishing information about our approach to vaccinations on our website, including information on how the decisions were made. Therefore, your request is refused under Section 17 (d) of the LGOIMA, as it will soon be publicly available.

This has been outstanding for a while and with Taupo removing their restrictions I would like to know what Auckland City council will be doing.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Mumby

Dear Angela Hare,

Can the council please supply the risk assessments that were taken indicating that an unvaxed person has a higher risk than a vaxed person and as such the exclusion of the unvaxed must remain in place. The government under red light covid has allowed public places to remain open, it was the councils decision to exclude unvaxed.

This policy does not seem to be working well as the Mayor has recently caught covid and the council is understaffed in many areas maybe due to isolation or illness.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Mumby

With the governments changes to the vaccination policy, Auckland Council
has decided that vaccine passes are no longer required at Auckland
Council’s sites and facilities from Tuesday 5 April 2022. This follows a
review of the council’s overall approach to vaccination and changes to
vaccination requirements for its staff, elected members and those who
carry out work for us, including volunteers.

Our website has been updated to reflect this new approach however we have
retained the information that was published on our website about our old
approach and provide this to you now. Here you will find information about
the council’s previous position on staff and elected member vaccination
and risk assessments. This information has now been superseded by the
updated vaccination policy page on the council website, which you can find
at the below link:
[1]https://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/plan....
The link also has the updated risk assessment document and links to the
latest OurAuckland stories.

From Tuesday 5 April 2022:

o Being fully vaccinated is strongly encouraged among Auckland Council
employees but is no longer a requirement in order for our people to
carry out their roles and access our workplaces, apart from in certain
circumstances such as when a government mandate is in place.
o This also applies to those who carry out work on our behalf, such as
contractors, suppliers and volunteers, which means our contractor
vaccination policy will be retired.
o In addition elected members are no longer required to be vaccinated to
work in our offices and meeting spaces.
o In line with this new approach and the government’s changes, customers
accessing our sites and facilities no longer need to provide evidence
of a My Vaccine Pass.

Should you believe Auckland Council has not responded appropriately to
your request, you have the right in accordance with section 27(3) of the
LGOIMA to make a complaint to the [2]Office of the Ombudsman to seek an
investigation and review of the decision
