Employees & Contractors exempted from Covid vaccine mandate
Vanessa Sinclair made this Official Information request to Canterbury District Health Board
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Canterbury District Health Board should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Vanessa Sinclair
Dear Canterbury District Health Board,
Please provide a detailed breakdown of CDHB employees and contractors that have NOT received the mandated two doses of a Covid vaccine and have Not been stood down ie. Unvaccinated and still employed.
I would like this data broken down by role, and for clinical staff, further broken down by specialization, along with the reason or rationale for each each exemption from the mandate.
Yours faithfully,
Vanessa Sinclair

Dear Kathleen Smitheram,
Thankyou for your delayed response to my request, unfortunately your response is unsatisfactory on two counts.
(1) You said:
"Canterbury DHB is currently meeting the criteria of the health order mandate and does not have staff working on
site who are unvaccinated."
The Government Health Order is not limited to staff working on site, and my request did not ask about on site / off site workers. I asked you to provide information about all employees and contractors that are currently working without the required vaccinations.
(2) You said:
"We are currently working through a number of employment processes and staff who are unvaccinated are still our
employees while we work through these matters. These staff are currently stood down while these processes
continue."
I have personally spoken with a senior doctor that is still working for CDHB, that has NOT received the required vaccinations, and has NOT been stood down.
The purpose of the OIA is to ensure transparency of government agencies to the public. Your response here has been less than transparent, and has, in fact, been misleading.
I respectfully ask you to review my request, and provide an honest response to it.
"Please provide a detailed breakdown of CDHB employees and contractors that have NOT received the
mandated two doses of a Covid vaccine and have Not been stood down ie. Unvaccinated and still employed.
I would like this data broken down by role, and for clinical staff, further broken down by specialization, along with the reason or rationale for each exemption from the mandate."
Yours sincerely,
Vanessa Sinclair
From: Vanessa Sinclair
Dear Kathleen Smitheram,
I am surprised not to have received a response from my last message, on this now, long overdue request.
Just to be clear, I have no wish to see any more people stood down by CDHB, or any other employer.
I believe that the Vaccination Order is an abomination, and should be revoked immediately.
The reason for this OIA is to create transparency about CDHB non-compliance, not for punishment, but for truth. The public have a right to know that CDHB is not in compliance, the true scale of the non-compliance, and an honest explanation about the reason for the non-compliance. I have heard anecdotally what the reason is, but I would like to hear it from you. The government need to hear it also, as quiet non-compliance perpetuates the governments illusion of success.
Just for the record, as well as the nice doctor I met at dinner recently, I have since spoken to a second Doctor that has refused the gene-therapy-rebranded-as-a-vaccine, who is also still employed by CDHB.
Please stand up for truth, enough damage has been done already.
Yours sincerely,
Vanessa Sinclair
