Covid Cabinet Papers & Alternative Advice: 18 October 2021

Matthew Hooton made this Official Information request to Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

The request was partially successful.

From: Matthew Hooton

Dear Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,

This afternoon, the Prime Minister made several announcements of decisions made by Cabinet about Covid levels. She said Cabinet had considered advice from officials and outside experts, with the former advocating level 3 for Auckland and the latter level 4.

Under the OIA, I request all Cabinet papers and other material considered by Cabinet today that include or reference advice from officials and/or outside experts on appropriate Covid levels for Auckland, Northland, Waikato and the rest of New Zealand.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Matthew Hooton

Kia ora Mr Hooton,

I write in response to your complaint to the Ombudsman’s Office in which
you have asked for clarity about where the documents, which were refused

located.

The Cabinet material that you requested was proactively released on 26
November and is located here:

covid19.govt.nz/about-our-covid-19-response/proactive-releases/alert-levels-and-restrictions/

The paper can be found under the “Proactive Releases – 26 November 2021”
box and is dated 18 October.

The associated public health advice from the Director General can be found
here:

The paper can be found under the “Proactive Releases – 26 November 2021”
