Dear Rebecca Ewert,

Thank you for your response.

Would you be able to clarify why section 9(2)(g)(i) of the Official Information Act applies to the documents in question?

Yours sincerely,

Mr Huang

From: Rebecca Ewert
University of Auckland

Dear Mr Huang,

The reason why the University withheld some documents withheld under
section 9(2)(g)(i) of the Official Information Act, was – as stated in the
University’s response – because this was necessary to maintain the
effective conduct of public affairs through the free and frank expression
of opinions by, between, and to members of the University in the course of
their duty. Providing a more detailed explanation about why it was
necessary to withhold the particular documents in question would require
reference to the withheld documents themselves, which would defeat the
purpose of withholding them under section 9(2)(g)(i).

If you are dissatisfied with the University’s decision to withhold
documents under section 9(2)(g)(i) of the Official Information Act, you
have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman.

Yours sincerely,

Rebecca Ewert
