As explained in our letter, NZ on Air does not currently hold this information in a format that easily compatible with your request. This would require additional staff time to collate into an Excel format.

As per Guidance provided by the Ombudsman. If you wish to have this already publicly available information provided in a certain format, you can either:
A – refine and narrow down your request
B – agree to covering costs of employing a temp for one business day to process your request. As per crown approved charging guidelines of an initial charge of $38 for the first chargeable half hour or part thereof; and then $38 for each additional half hour or part thereof.

Please advise if you would like to pursue either of those options.

NZ On Air has not changed the search functionality on its website.

I have attached screen shot showing our search results. When submitting a
search query please ensure you select the option to search for Funding
Decisions. When the results show up, click on 'Show Details'. This will
bring up the additional information.

 

Please see below for an explanation of our headings. Which relate to the
information you have requested.

* The 'Production company' is the company that will make the content.

* The 'Primary Platform' is the company that would broadcast the
production.

* The Synopsis is a brief description of the project.

 

For example, if you search for 'Country Calendar 2021' using the Funding
decisions filter, the Production company is listed as TVNZ and the Primary
Platform is listed as TVNZ1 the synopsis is ' A documentary series that
profiles New Zealanders who make their living from the land or sea.'

 

As noted in our OIA response letter, the Annexes to our Annual Reports
provide the rest of the information you have requested, in a table format.
 This also details the platform and producer.

As previously stated, the provision of the synopsis alongside each project
in a table format will require staff time to collate. This cannot be
processed in a matter of minutes. As such we would look to charge you for
the staff time to process this request.

I note that since I made this request - NZ On Air seems to have taken the
suspicious step of 'hiding' who the productions are being made for.  It
previously stated the production company '&' the company that would
broadcast the production. Therefore the information requested is no longer
publicly available.

 

If you can manipulate the data that quickly - you can export the database
within minutes.

 

I do not appreciate your delay tactics and I do not appreciate your lack
of transparency.  The request is already very narrow.

 

Please send me the information I originally requested in any DB format.
Further refusal will result in this matter being forwarded to the
Ombudsman.
