What happen if I am not satisfied about a decision made by the IPCA regarding a complaint against the NZ Police?

Sophie made this Official Information request to Independent Police Conduct Authority

The request was partially successful.

From: Sophie

Dear Independent Police Conduct Authority,

What can I do if I am not satisfied about a decision made by the IPCA regarding a complaint against the NZ Police?

Is the IPCA answerable to the Ombudsman NZ (website: ombudsman.parliament.nz)?

Best regards,
Sophie

Morning Sophie,

If you don't agree with the Authority's decision, you can write to us and tell us why you disagree with the outcome.

If you give us new evidence or there are issues we didn't address, we will review your complaint and all information collected. We will then write to you with a decision.

New evidence and a request for the Authority to take another look at your complaint can be sent to [email address]. Please include your name and the IPCA reference used in our previous correspondence to you.

Kind regards,

Afternoon Sophie,

Under our Act is there no right of appeal so we are not answerable to the Ombudsman. If you would like to take your complaint further, you will need to seek legal advice.

INDEPENDENT POLICE CONDUCT AUTHORITY
