Dear University of Auckland,

Please provide the following information for non-mapas UTAS (SWD, Low SEB, SRB) applicants to the Medical (MBChB) program at UoA for 2019-2020 FY entry for each UTAS category:

(1) Number of seats available
(2) Number of applicants interviewed
(3) Interview GPA cut-off for applicants
(4) Lowest GPA for successful applicants or the range.
(5) Highest GPA for unsuccessful applicants or the range.
(6) lowest UCAT score for successful applicants
(7) highest UCAT score for successful
applicants.

I understand that the true successful GPA and UCAT might not be provided due to privacy reasons. However if possible I would like a range of a successful GPA and UCAT.

Yours faithfully,

Mehak

Dear Mehak,

I refer to your request of 25 May 2021. The University’s response follows.

“Please provide the following information for non-mapas UTAS (SWD, Low
SEB, SRB) applicants to the Medical (MBChB) program at UoA for 2019-2020
FY entry for each UTAS category”

‘(1) Number of seats available”

2019: SWD - 2; LSEB - 5; SRB - 1.

2020: SWD - 2; LSEB - 5; SRB - 1.

“(2) Number of [FY] applicants interviewed”
2019: SWD - 4; LSEB - 5; SRB - 4.

2020: SWD - 3; LSEB - 7; SRB - 4.

“(3) Interview GPA cut-off for [FY] applicants”

2019: SWD - 6; LSEB - 6; SRB - 6.

2020: SWD – 6; LSEB – 7; SRB – 7.

“(4) Lowest GPA for successful applicants or the range.
(5) Highest GPA for unsuccessful applicants or the range.
(6) lowest UCAT score for successful applicants
(7) highest UCAT score for successful applicants.”

Parts 4-7 of your email are requests for the results of specific
applicants. The information requested is withheld under section 9(2)(a) of
the Official Information Act, to protect their privacy. Although the
University protects the privacy of specific applicants in larger
admissions categories by providing the data sought in the form of ranges
rather than as individual values, this step is not sufficient to protect
applicant privacy where the number of applicants/successful applicants is
very low (as it is in the case of UTAS SWD, LSEB and SRB admissions
categories).

You have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman if you are
dissatisfied with this response.

Yours sincerely,

Rebecca Ewert
