Taiwan New Zealand Travel Bubble
Micky Turner made this Official Information request to Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment
The request was refused by Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment.
From: Micky Turner
Dear Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment,
New Zealand should of had a travel bubble in place with Taiwan since June 2020. There are 24 million Taiwanese and they spend a lot on overseas travel:
https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/37...(Taiwan%20News)%20%E2%80%93Taiwan,on%20Monday%20(July%2022).
I am curious to know why for the past year the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment and most politicians have actively ignored the possibility of opening a Taiwan bubble.
Can you please forward all documentation the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment has regarding a 'Taiwan & New Zealand Travel Bubble' from 1 April 2020 until now?
Please include all internal emails between Government Ministers, as well as emails to and from Taiwanese (& Chinese) politicians, NZ mayors, NZ tourism operators, NZ media & NZ journalists.
Yours faithfully,
Micky Turner

Dear ESD,
Thank you for confirming the following:
1. That Taiwan 'have' expressed interest in forming a travel bubble with New Zealand
2. Jacinda Ardern and Nanaia Mahuta rejected Taiwan's request for a travel bubble - which could have save New Zealand jobs and businesses
3. The Ministry has identified a number of documents that contain references that would fall within the scope of my request - however will not release those documents due to a lack of transparency & because those documents will show New Zealand is no longer a sovereign nation
4. The New Zealand Government elected by the people of New Zealand was pressured by China into not forming a travel bubble with Taiwan (even though Taiwan went for around 10 months Covid free)
5. China controls New Zealand's Labour Government, tourism industry and media (as well as the National, Act, Green & NZ First parties)
Kindest regards - Micky Turner

Just to zip up this OIA request for future historians - below are emails between myself and Queenstown Mayor 'Jim Boult' who promised to 'raise' the issue - he never did - my email even provided a diplomatic solution to keep the CCP from frothing at the mouth.
This media interview between sellout media outlet Newshub and sellout mayor Jim Boult exclaims "Queenstown Mayor says tourism industry won't survive another year of closed borders"
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/travel/20...
There is a lot of information about New Zealand mayors and politicians receiving indirect donations from the Chinese Communist Party (effectively on the take). This 4 Corners investigations shows a similar pattern of foreign interference in Australia at all levels - including local council, government and media:

Subject: Taiwan Bubble
Hi Jim,
Have you ever wondered why we don’t have a bubble with Taiwan?
They have 20 million people & are Covid free. 16 million of them travel & spend billions on international holidays every year (think it’s 80 billion).
We should of had a bubble with them since last May/June (they wanted one).
The Labour party sold out our tourism industry for a new trade deal with China. The leftist media will bitch about lack of tourists – but won’t ever mention a ‘Taiwan Bubble’ (even Garner).
Cheers – Micky

National party won’t mention it either (both seem to be funded by the Chinese)
Jake Bezzant is the only MP who is willing to question it.

Thanks Jim,
Yeah, I think if China kick up a fuss the approach to take would be - if NZ can have a bubble with individual states of Australia – NZ can have a bubble with individual provinces of China including Taiwan.
Should keep them happy.
Cheers – Micky
