Kia ora Julie

Thank you for your request made under the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 (the Act), received on 4 March 2021. You
requested the following information:

o What percentage of Council employees are paid at or over the
midpoint/median of the salary range for their particular role?

o What percentage of those Council employees paid at or over their set
midpoint/median identify as female?

o Wellington City Council has granted your request for information at no
cost.

Please find the response to your questions laid out below.

Please note there is no salary range for roles that are on the Living
Wage, the median for this is determined by Living Wage Aotearoa and is set
at a flat rate.

The total number of staff at Council is 1745. This includes all
(permanent, fixed term, casual) staff members on grades 9-33 and Living
Wage.

The total number of staff excluding those on Living Wage is 1433. This
includes (permanent, fixed term, casual) staff members on grades 9-33
only, i.e. excludes 312 staff members on the Living Wage.

For the purpose of your request we have provided the figures based on all
staff including those on the Living Wage. These figures are accurate as of
12 March 2021.

What percentage of Council employees are paid at or over the
midpoint/median of the salary range for their particular role?

597 out of 1745 staff, i.e. 34% of Council staff are paid at >=100% of
their salary range

What percentage of those Council employees paid at or over their set
midpoint/median identify as female?

285 out of the 597 staff, i.e. 48% are identified as female.

Right of review

If you disagree with Councils decision you have the right, under section
27(3) of the Act, to ask the Ombudsman to review and investigate the
decision. Further information is available on the Ombudsman website,
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.

Thank you again for your request. I trust this information is of
assistance to you.

Kind regards

Jessica Hall
