Shapefiles and associated information of broadband and wireless coverage

Andrew Lensen made this Official Information request to Crown Infrastructure Partners

The request was successful.

From: Andrew Lensen

Dear Crown Infrastructure Partners,

Can you please provide all held shapefiles and other information pertaining to the coverage for (existing or planned) fibre, RBI1/2/2+, the Mobile Blackspot Fund, and any other rollout of internet services that CIP is associated with.

By way of example, I refer to the data you provided as part of a tender in 2016:
https://www.gets.govt.nz/CFH/ExternalTen...
Shapefiles:

- RBI2 Shapefiles: These describe the land parcels that represent our best intelligence of the location of the Category 1 Eligible End Users in each Rural Broadband Region. Each .zip file includes files within a particular Rural Broadband Region.
- MBS Highway Shapefiles: These files describe stretches of State Highway (Highway Black Spot Zones) which do not have mobile service based on current and planned coverage data.
- MBS Highway National Shapefiles: These files describe a national view of State Highways which do not have mobile service based on current and planned coverage data.
- MBS Tourism Shapefiles: These files describe Tourism locations which do not have mobile service based on current and planned coverage data.

Yours faithfully,
Andrew Lensen

Good afternoon Andrew

Thank you for your email and the request for information below.

We note that the National Broadband Map (available at
[1]https://broadbandmap.nz/home) provides information on current broadband
availability (including Fibre, Wireless, etc) for land parcels and areas.
You can search for a specific address or area to understand the current
and future capability for each type of broadband.

If you still require the specific information requested, we note that the
due to the wide scope of the request, compiling the relevant information
will take time and an extension to the timeline for responding will be
necessary.  We also note that a charge will likely apply for the supply of
information (in accordance with section 15 of the Official Information Act
1982).

We would therefore be grateful if you would confirm whether the
information is still required and, if so, whether the scope of information
requested has changed. We can then assess the time and charge required to
fulfil this request.

Kind regards

Kate

Dear Kate Broadhurst (Crown Infrastructure),

I do still require the specific information requested. As a significant part of it was already made available to interested parties as part of the tender process in 2016, I do not expect that there would be a charge involved.

Dear Mr Lensen

Thank you for your email and your patience. We have been collating the
requested information at our end and have initiated consultation with the
relevant third parties who originally provided the relevant information to
Crown Infrastructure Partners.  Unfortunately, due to the large amount of
information to be collated and the ongoing consultation requirements, we
are not in a position to provide a substantive response within the time
period specified in the Official Information Act (the 'Act').

In accordance with section 15A of the Act, we therefore give notice that
the time limit for responding is extended by a further ten (10) working
days.  We will, however, endeavour to provide a response in advance of
this additional time limit expiring.

We note that you have the right, under section 28(3) of the Act, to make a
complaint to an Ombudsman about the extension.

Kind regards

Kate

Subject: RE: Official Information request - Shapefiles and associated
information of broadband and wireless coverage

Dear Kate Broadhurst (Crown Infrastructure),

I do still require the specific information requested. As a significant
part of it was already made available to interested parties as part of the
tender process in 2016, I do not expect that there would be a charge
involved.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Lensen

-----Original Message-----

Good afternoon Andrew

Thank you for your email and the request for information below.

We note that the National Broadband Map (available at

[1][5]https://broadbandmap.nz/home) provides information on current
broadband  availability (including Fibre, Wireless, etc) for land parcels
and areas.

You can search for a specific address or area to understand the current
and future capability for each type of broadband.

If you still require the specific information requested, we note that the
due to the wide scope of the request, compiling the relevant information
will take time and an extension to the timeline for responding will be
necessary.  We also note that a charge will likely apply for the supply
of  information (in accordance with section 15 of the Official Information
Act  1982).

We would therefore be grateful if you would confirm whether the
information is still required and, if so, whether the scope of
information  requested has changed. We can then assess the time and charge
required to  fulfil this request.

Kind regards

Kate

Subject: Official Information request - Shapefiles and associated
information of broadband and wireless coverage

Dear Crown Infrastructure Partners,

Can you please provide all held shapefiles and other information
pertaining to the coverage for (existing or planned) fibre, RBI1/2/2+,
the Mobile Blackspot Fund, and any other rollout of internet services
 that CIP is associated with.

By way of example, I refer to the data you provided as part of a tender
in 2016:

[4][6]https://www.gets.govt.nz/CFH/ExternalTen...

Shapefiles:

- RBI2 Shapefiles: These describe the land parcels that represent our
best intelligence of the location of the Category 1 Eligible End Users  in
each Rural Broadband Region. Each .zip file includes files within a
particular Rural Broadband Region.

- MBS Highway Shapefiles: These files describe stretches of State  Highway
(Highway Black Spot Zones) which do not have mobile service  based on
current and planned coverage data.

- MBS Highway National Shapefiles: These files describe a national view
of State Highways which do not have mobile service based on current and
planned coverage data.

- MBS Tourism Shapefiles: These files describe Tourism locations which  do
not have mobile service based on current and planned coverage data.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Lensen
