Dear New Zealand Police,

I request the following information under the Official Information Act:

For the period 01 December 2020 to 18 January 2021 (inclusive):

1. I request a breakdown of all arrests made by police.

Please ensure to include:
- The date the arrest was made.
- The time the arrest was made.
- The specific offence which led to the arrest being made.
- The age of the individual arrested.
- The ethnicity of the individual arrested.
- The gender of the individual arrested
- The number of Police Officers present when the arrest was made.
- The age, ethnicity, and gender of the Officers present when the arrest was made.
- The years of experience of each of the officers present.
- The latitude and longitude coordinates where the arrest was made.
- Whether any Police dogs, tasers, pepper spray, or any firearms were used to effect the arrest.
- An anonymised ID number assigned to each officer (this does not need to be any internally recognised number, it can simply be assigned as Officer #001 to Officer #N.

For all age based information requested, I am happy for 5 year age bands to be used should Police be unwilling to provide exact data.
Should Police wish to discuss the contents of this request, I am more than happy to clarify any items. If Police wish to clarify any items, I ask that Police do so at their earliest convenience.

I have been asked to advise you that Police requires an extension of time
in which to respond to your request, pursuant to section 15A(1) of the
Official Information Act (OIA). Specifically, section 15A(1)(b),
consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a
proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the
original time limit.
 
Police require until 26 March 2021 to provide a substantive response to
your request.
 
You have the right, under section 28(3) of the OIA, to make a complaint to
an Ombudsman about this extension.
