I am interested in the fare revenue and operating cost of Auckland's pubic transport services since July 2018.

1) Can I please have a copy of the monthly rail fare revenue from July 2018?

2) Can I please have a copy of the rail ticket sales by ticket type and ticket type revenue from July 2018?

3) Can I please have a copy of the monthly rail operating cost paid to the rail operator from July 2018?

On 12 November 2020 you made a request for information about fare revenue,
cost and patronage for Auckland PT across our bus and rail services since
July 2018.
 
Your request, as it is currently framed, will be very difficult to meet
without substantive collation. Unless your request is amended, we may have
to refuse it under section 10(f) of the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA), which applies where the
information cannot me made available without substantive collation or
research. Please let us know before 25 November 2020 whether you are
prepared to amend your request and, if so, how.

Unfortunately, to provide the information for questions 1 to 14 will still
require a substantial amount of time to collate from the relevant teams
within Auckland Transport.

Good afternoon Tony,

 

Thank you for your request for information dated 12 November 2020 about
fare revenue, cost and patronage for Auckland PT across our bus and rail
services since July 2018.

On 19 November 2020 we asked you to refine your request, as it would
likely be declined under section 10(f) of the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA), as the information to all 14
of your questions could not be made available without substantive
collation or research.  You replied on 20 November 2020 requesting the
information for questions 1 to 14.

On 25 November 2020 we asked you to refine your request to just 3
questions, as the request was still too large. You replied on 25 November
2020 asking for questions 1 to 6 to be answered.
 

 1. Can I please have a copy of the monthly rail fare revenue from July
2018?

Granted – we hold this information and will provide it to you.
 

 2. Can I please have a copy of the rail ticket sales by ticket type and
ticket type revenue from July 2018?

Granted – we hold this information and will provide it to you.
 

 3. Can I please have a copy of the monthly rail operating cost paid to
the rail operator from July 2018?

Granted – we hold the overall cost for the various operators and will
provide this to you. We are not able to release further breakdown because
the rail contract is under tender currently. To release the information
requested would undermine the tender.
 

 4. Can I please have a copy of the monthly fare revenue for each bus
route and for each bus PTOM unit for each month from July 2018?

 
Declined under section 17(f) of LGOIMA, as the information requested
cannot be made available without substantial collation and research. An
explanation to follow in the response.
 

 5. Can I please have a copy of the bus ticket sales by ticket type and
ticket type revenue for each bus route for each month from July 2018?

 
Granted – we hold this information and will provide it to you.
 

 6. Can I please have a copy of the monthly bus PTOM contract operating
cost paid to bus operators for each PTOM bus unit for each month from
July 2018?

Declined under section 17(2)(h), 17(2)(i) and 17(2)(j) of the LGOIMA. An
explanation will be provided in the response.
 

We are in the process of gathering the information and it will take us
a bit longer to prepare this for release. We estimate the information will
be ready by Friday, 18 December 2020.
