I refer to your information request received 3 November 2020, which has

You  noted “I wish to know the following in relation to staff pay equity
issues.”

 

You requested the following information:

“The number of full time staff who identify as non-Maori.

 

The salary range  (actual paid from lowest to highest) of full time staff
who identify as non-Maori.

 

The mean/average salary per annum for full time staff who identify as
non-Maori.

 

The number of full time staff who identify as Maori.

 

The salary range (actual paid from lowest to highest) of full time staff
who identify as Maori.

 

The mean/average salary per annum for full time staff who identify as
Maori.”

 

Council response

 

Pursuant to the LGOIMA, Council has decided to provide you with the
requested information. Please refer to the spreadsheet attached.

Regarding this information, Council wishes to note however, the following
points which you may want to take into consideration:

o It is not mandatory for staff to declare whether they identify as
Māori or non – Māori.
o The figures provided are not what each person, within either the Māori
or non – Māori category, is actually paid. Rather they show, according
to Council’s grading system, the potential 100% of the salary band of
the FTE position relating to that person’s employment. Full time staff
 are paid a salary ranging from 85%  to 100 % of the position’s
defined grade or band.
