Dear Independent Police Conduct Authority,

This is a request under the Official Information Act for
correspondence – including but not limited to emails, letters, memos, faxes and any phone records - between the Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA) and the New Zealand Police relating to the recently completed national rollout of iPhones and iPods to front-line police officers. In particular I request:

1: Any correspondence between the IPCA and Police Inspector Simon Feltham about monitoring of the new devices.
2: Any correspondence between the IPCA and Police Inspector Simon Feltham about the rollout's potential impact on future IPCA inquiries.
3: Any correspondence between the IPCA and Police about monitoring of the new devices.
4: Any correspondence between the IPCA and Police about the
rollout's potential impact on future IPCA inquiries.

I would appreciate a timely response to this enquiry, thank you for your attention to the matter.

I refer to your email (below) requesting information held by the Authority. As an operational matter for New Zealand Police, the Authority has not been involved in discussions or the decisions around the rollout of this equipment.

Additionally, the Authority is not subject to the Official Information Act and in accordance with the secrecy provisions of the IPCA Act would not release anything held by it in this respect; or indeed in relation to any other matter.
